International Jazz Festival in St Gilles Croix de Vie
Just in the door this instant – what a melodic way to start the weekend! A glass of rosé on the port of St Gilles overlooking the boats, then « first row seats » for the open air free concert of the Blue Bayou Jazz Band, a New Orleans inspired jazz sextet.
Just superb, I could feel the old toes tapping under my plastic chair & I never knew you could do so much with a washboard! « Chapeau, messieurs! », as they say.
A shame if you are in town and missed tonight’s show, but the official opening of the 27th International Jazz Festival doesn’t actually take place until tomorrow, Saturday 22nd May, at midday. There’ll be two free groups playing at 2 pm then 6 pm on the Quai du Port Fidele, just opposite the Hôtel St Gilles, if that helps.
Keep your eyes peeled as « ‘Les Copains d’abord » will be performing in and around the streets of St Gilles. Check out this link in French for the full weekend programme. There are also paying concerts on Saturday & Sunday night in La Conserverie (on the other side of the bridge), tickets still available at the St Gilles Tourist Office. Just an idea – grab a friend cos it’s 25 euros per ticket, or only 35€ for two!
Such a classy way to spend the weekend, n’est-ce pas?!!!
